It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but El Monte had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Salesian Mustangs. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Danny Cardona and Anthony Tzul scored both of El Monte's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.
El Monte pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for Salesian, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
Coming up, El Monte will venture away from home to take on Beckman at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Salesian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
