The Champaign Central Maroons and KIPP will round out the year against one another at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday at. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Champaign Central's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They snuck past Decatur Eisenhower with a 43-39 win. The victory was just what Champaign Central needed coming off of a 61-39 defeat in their prior game.
Champaign Central can attribute much of their success to Luke Swanson, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Aidyn Beck, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, KIPP scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Gateway Science Academy, posting a 81-43 victory on the road. That 81-43 margin sets a new team best for KIPP this season.
Champaign Central's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-6. As for KIPP, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Champaign Central was able to grind out a solid win over KIPP in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 51-43. Will Champaign Central repeat their success, or does KIPP have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
