Tipton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Clinton Prairie Gophers at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Tipton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 22 points or more this season. They took their game at home on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 67-39 victory over Lewis Cass. Given Tipton's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Lewis Cass is ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tipton relied on the efforts of Grady Carpenter, who scored 16 points along with eight assists and three steals, and Nolan Swan, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 4 assists. The match was Swan's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Money, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Clinton Prairie put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Frontier 72-35 at home. Clinton Prairie's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Tipton's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Clinton Prairie, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Everything came up roses for Tipton against Clinton Prairie in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 65-34 win. Does Tipton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clinton Prairie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
