The Cimarron-Memorial Spartans won the last time they faced the Chaparral Cowboys, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Cimarron-Memorial walked away with a 59-48 win over Chaparral. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cimarron-Memorial.
Cimarron-Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gerald Patterson led the charge by scoring 25 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Patterson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Christian Cardona, who scored 15 points along with six assists and three steals.
Chaparral lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Qualib Ghallab, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Ghallab is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Rayshawn Armstead was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Cimarron-Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Chaparral, they bumped their record down to 5-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Cimarron-Memorial will challenge Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Legacy is ranked 19th, while Cimarron-Memorial is ranked 22nd). As for Chaparral, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Western at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
