The Deuel Cardinals will venture away from home to square off against the Florence/Henry Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Monday, Deuel got the win against Milbank by a conclusive 22-1. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Katrina Hagberg made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Hagberg was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Deuel got a massive performance out of Elle Holden, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Holden a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Graclyn Nielsen, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Florence/Henry never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Sisseton with a sharp 18-0 victory.
Like Deuel, Florence/Henry also got a great game from a two-way player: Elizabeth Reiter. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Reiter was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Brooke Hlavacek was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Kaylee Vavruska was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Deuel now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Florence/Henry, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Deuel came up short against Florence/Henry when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 10-5. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
