AA District 12 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Lewis County's Shane Bowman recorded the longest rushing play in AA District 12 this season in his game against Spring Hill last week. Bowman's team defeated the Raiders as he sprinted for 79 yards on the play and finished with 120 in all.
Lewis County was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Bobby Sharp's team vanquished Spring Hill 37-0 earlier in the week.
Giles County's dynamic duo of Al Cobb and Lucas Harrison proved tough for Page to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cobb threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns and Harrison had 154 yards receiving. Kenton Baker helped Giles County's passing attack out by catching five balls for 70 yards.
Ryan Bell was the most productive running back in the league this week. In eight carries, he ran for 126 yards as the Panthers beat the Patriots.
Giles County's Cobb and Baker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AA District 12 in both passing and receiving yards. Cobb has thrown for 2058 yards this season, while Baker, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 55 catches for 1023 yards. Lewis County's Bell leads the league in rushing yards with 973.
Bell of the the Panthers is only 27 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Bulldogs take on Lewis County. Hickman County is currently in fourth, while the Panthers are in third.
David O'Connor's team was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Page. The Bobcats came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
