Westbrook is 2-8 against Biddeford since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Blue Blazes will head out to face off against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Westbrook has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Westbrook came up short against Cheverus on Thursday, falling 17-2. The Blue Blazes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Westbrook saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Clukey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Charlotte Krantz also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Biddeford). They put the hurt on Falmouth with a sharp 22-3 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Navigators: they've now won seven in a row.
Madi Roy made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Roy was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ayla Lagasse was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Jaylah Trottier was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Biddeford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Biddeford's record now sits at 6-4. As for Westbrook, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westbrook hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Biddeford struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westbrook might still be hurting after the 16-7 defeat they got from Biddeford when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Blue Blazes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
