Charlestown is 2-8 against Silver Creek since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pirates will square off against the Dragons at 8:00 p.m. Charlestown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Charlestown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past North Harrison 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.

Hannah Burns spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Charlestown saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avarie Freiberger, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Silver Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over Columbus North on Friday.
Karmen McMillan looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
On the hitting side, Kaitlyn Whitlock was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Hall, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Silver Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Charlestown's record is now 16-8. As for Silver Creek, their record now sits at 18-10.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Charlestown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Silver Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Charlestown beat Silver Creek 8-5 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
