Basketball Game Preview: Patriot Prep Academy Eagles vs. Granville Christian Academy

The Patriot Prep Academy Eagles will venture away from home to square off against Granville Christian Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Patriot Prep Academy is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Horizon Science Academy on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Patriot Prep Academy was beaten by Horizon Science Academy 49-6. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-5.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Faith Thomas, who posted 24 points and seven steals. Her evening made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Narkuor Tetteh-Odonkor, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Patriot Prep Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Granville Christian Academy had to suffer through a 58-23 loss at the hands of Genoa Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Granville Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while Genoa Christian Academy is ranked 140th).

Patriot Prep Academy suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Granville Christian Academy, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-3.

Patriot Prep Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Granville Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January, winning 42-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Patriot Prep Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
