After flying high against the Monument Valley Cougars back in December of 2023, the Escalante Moquis came back down to earth. Escalante was beaten by Valley 80-48 on Thursday. Escalante lost against Valley in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 67-28 score last time.
Escalante lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Korben Young, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. The contest was Young's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendal Gardner, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Escalante's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-7. As for Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Escalante is on the road again on Thursday and play against Bryce Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Bryce Valley is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Milford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
