Cumberland County has been on the road for three straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the McLean County Cougars at 4:00 p.m.
Two weeks ago, Cumberland County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-40 to Clinton County. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cumberland County has scored all season.
Meanwhile, McLean County had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 48-10 win over Evansville Bosse on the road. That looming 48-10 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for McLean County yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McLean County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anna Miller, who scored 11 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Miller grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Larkin, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Cumberland County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for McLean County, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
