The South Cougars were the 51-35 winner over the Great Bend Panthers when they last played one another back in March of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. South fell 44-37 to Great Bend on Friday.
South's loss came despite strong showings from Tamia Cheeks and Brooklyn Jordan. Cheeks scored 12 points, while Jordan scored six points along with three steals.
South struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
South's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Great Bend, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South and Liberal will face off on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Liberal is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Great Bend, Great Bend and Andover will face off on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Andover knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Great Bend likes a good challenge.
