Kennett is a perfect 10-0 against Malden since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Kennett will be playing at home against Malden at 3:00 p.m. One thing working in Kennett's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.
On Monday, Kennett got the win against Holcomb by a conclusive 16-1. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.
Handley McAtee was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kynsly McCaig, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
McAtee wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Kennett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Malden faced Bernie in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Malden walked away with a 7-4 win over Bernie. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Alyssa Broom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mariah Loya, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Camryn Ellison was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Kennett pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Malden, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kennett hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .460. However, it's not like Malden struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Kennett's way against Malden in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Kennett made off with a 16-0 win. Will Kennett repeat their success, or does Malden has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
