The Skutt Catholic SkyHawks will square off against the Gering Bulldogs at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. Both come into the  game bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
Skutt Catholic took a loss when they played away from home  two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed  on Friday. They took down Blair 49-34. The SkyHawks haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive  victory against them.

Skutt Catholic got their  win on the backs of several key players, but it was  Brenden Ruth out in front who rushed for 103 yards and three  touchdowns on only nine carries. Those  103  rushing yards gave  Ruth a new career-high. Skutt Catholic also got a significant boost from  Louie Nelson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Skutt Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 380  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've managed all season.
 Skutt Catholic's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB  five times.  Beckham Werner refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two  sacks all by himself.
Meanwhile, Gering hadn't done well against Hastings recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Friday. The Bulldogs took their  contest  with ease, bagging  a  28-0 victory over the Tigers. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 22  points or more this season.
Skutt Catholic better keep an eye on  Rece Knight. He was instrumental in Gering's win, rushing for 56 yards and one  score, while also throwing for 137 yards and one  TD while completing 73.7% of his passes. Knight also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D,  making one tackle and defending three passes.
 Gering didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Gabe Milton and  Bo Gable. Gable got in on the action too, converting a pick  into a touchdown.
 Skutt Catholic's record now sits at 7-2. As for Gering, their record is now an identical 7-2.
 Friday's   game might be decided on the ground. Skutt Catholic has been excellent on the ground this season,  having  averaged 177.2  rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Gering struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 173.8  rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's   contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
