It was a good run, but the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Santa Fe by a score of 63-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
P.K. Yonge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joel Washington, who scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The contest was Washington's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jantzen Griffin, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
P.K. Yonge's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Santa Fe, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7.
P.K. Yonge will be home for the holidays to greet Hawthorne at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Fe, they will head out on the road to face off against Suwannee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
