The La Porte Bulldogs had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Angleton by a score of 76-65 on Tuesday. Given La Porte's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Angleton is ranked 609th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Phillip Ned was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Trent Callies, who scored 14 points along with seven steals.
When it comes to explaining why Angleton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ka'dyine Jones. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Braydon Campbell was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
La Porte's victory bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Angleton, they bumped their record down to 11-16 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
La Porte will face off against Friendswood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Friendswood will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Angleton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ball at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
