The Kewaskum Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Cedar Grove-Belgium Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kewaskum's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Cedar Grove-Belgium's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Kewaskum is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering West Bend West just ended the team's 14-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Indians have suffered since April 17th.
Kingston Grisolono was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Cedar Grove-Belgium waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Warriors. Considering the Rockets have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Connor Waters, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Oelhafen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Cedar Grove-Belgium always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ozaukee only posted an OBP of .222.
Cedar Grove-Belgium pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Kewaskum, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kewaskum has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cedar Grove-Belgium struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Kewaskum beat Cedar Grove-Belgium 9-6 in their previous meeting on May 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
