A feisty cat fight will be fought as Peyton Panthers challenge Lyons Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Peyton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Peyton's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Friday, when they got past Front Range Christian's usually-dominant pitching crew. Peyton walked away with a 10-5 win over Front Range Christian.
Noah Martin made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Martin was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Martin is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Peyton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Front Range Christian only posted an OBP of .371.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Lyons made sure to put some runs up on the board against Platte Canyon on Friday. Lyons' pitcher stepped up to hand Platte Canyon a 20-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won four in a row.
Kaion Kishiyama was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zack LaCrosse, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Calvin Russell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.
Peyton's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Lyons, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Lyons' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Peyton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. It's a different story for Lyons, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Peyton's hitters?
Everything went Peyton's way against Lyons in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, as Peyton made off with a 14-1 victory. Will Peyton repeat their success, or does Lyons has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
