There's no place like home for the Mallard Creek Mavericks, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Charlotte Country Day School 69-42 at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mallard Creek also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Mallard Creek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Robertson, who scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Another player making a difference was Alana Biosse, who scored 6 points along with 8 steals and 7 assists.
Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Vanderhave, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds. The game was Vanderhave's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Smith, who scored 2 points along with 6 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Charlotte Country Day School were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mallard Creek only racked up 20.
Mallard Creek now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Mallard Creek will head out on the road to face off against Cannon at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cannon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mallard Creek in North Carolina (Cannon is ranked second, while Mallard Creek is ranked 57th). As for Charlotte Country Day School, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Charlotte T at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully South Charlotte T focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Monday.
