Wayne scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Centerville, 42-35. At the time, the Elks were ranked 18th in the state, while the Warriors were 33rd.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Wayne, who defeated 18th ranked Centerville, 42-35.
Ron Ullery's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Will Vance threw for 122 yards and Cory Carter had 66 yards receiving. On the ground Damian Popp contributed 100 yards. Nick Bozzo helped Centerville's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 56 yards.
The Elks' dynamic duo of Vance and Carter proved to be unstoppable against Jay Minton's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bozzo helped Centerville's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 56 yards.
Northmont's Graham Oberer and Cameron Taylor have formed a dream team this season, leading Greater Western Ohio - Central in both passing and receiving yards. Oberer has thrown for 665 yards this season, while Taylor has 19 catches for 268 yards. Centerville's Popp leads the league in rushing yards with 1,550.
The Elks' offense has scored 327 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Beavercreek has allowed only 135 on the year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Fairmont takes on the Warriors. As it stands, the Firebirds are in fifth, while Wayne is in first.
The Warriors were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Centerville. Wayne came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 33 last week.
