The Oceanside Mariners put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 106-49 victory over Morse. That 106-49 margin sets a new team best for Oceanside this season.
Leading Oceanside to victory were Carter Galley and Cohen Galley. Galley shot 5-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 33 points and 14 rebounds, while Galley dropped a double-double on 38 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Galley has scored at least 25% of Oceanside's points. Zeb Foster was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Morse had strong showings from Trace McFarland, who scored 13 points, and Braylon Williams, who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Bryce Bustamante, who scored six points.
Morse struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Oceanside racked up 13 assists.
Oceanside's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Morse, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oceanside will take on Erskine Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Erskine Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maine Rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Oceanside is ranked fifth). As for Morse, they will head out on the road to face off against Winslow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
