The Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds and the Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds had to settle for second. Shawnee Heights was beaten by Blue Valley Southwest 38-10. Shawnee Heights' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Allen Baughman, who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown. Baughman has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played.
Blue Valley Southwest's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drake Dombrosky, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Another player making a difference was Dylan Dunn, who threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73% of his passes.
Shawnee Heights' loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Blue Valley Southwest, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Shawnee Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Blue Valley Southwest is on the road again on Friday and play against Mill Valley at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Mill Valley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
