Last Friday, Snow Canyon came up short against Crimson Cliffs and fell 49-41. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Mustangs are ranked 29th).
Reggie Mackay put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 17 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Issaiah Thompson, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Pine View didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Desert Hills on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 56-52 win.
Snow Canyon better focus on containing Caleb Schmitt and Cooper Ranson as the pair were huge in Pine View's win. Schmitt had 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds, while Ranson went 6 for 10 on his way to 18 points. Ranson is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Moore, who earned eight points.
Pine View was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Hills only racked up six assists.
Pine View is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Snow Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Snow Canyon has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.4 rebounds per game.
