Central recap November 5, 2013
Paris Miller of Christian ran for the longest rushing play in Central this season against University City last week. Miller's team defeated the Centurions as he sprinted for 82 yards on the play and finished with 200 in all.
Clairemont moved up to 580 from 613 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Chieftains climbed the ranks as a result of besting Kearny 23-19.
Christian's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Michael Carrillo threw for 123 and 2 touchdowns and Trevor Howell had 96 yards receiving. On the ground Miller chipped in 200 yards. Kai Arvan helped Christian's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 52 yards.
Miller was a passing and rushing force as Matt Oliver's team bested University City. Miller's favorite target this week was Howell, who caught 3 passes for 96 yards.
Howell was the best receiver in the league this week as the Patriots topped Charles James' team. Arvan helped Christian's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 52 yards.
Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Carrillo has thrown for 1,792 yards and 22 touchdowns this season, while Arvan has 26 catches for 592 yards.
A big matchup in Central this week will be when Clairemont takes on the Centurions. As it stands, Ron Gladnick's team is in second, while University City is in third.
The Centurions lost to Christian 52-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
