The Eunice Cardinals suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were dealt a 60-18 defeat at the hands of Lovington. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eunice has scored all season.
Lovington found their leader in underclassman Ashelynn Borunda, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Elizabeth Buendia was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and two steals.
Eunice has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Lovington, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
Eunice on the road again on Monday and play against Dora at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Dora is ranked 57th, while Eunice is ranked 77th). Lovington won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Clovis at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th.
