Parsons is 2-8 against Pittsburg since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Parsons Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Pittsburg Dragons at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Parsons was able to grind out a solid win over Labette County, taking the game 72-65. The victory was just what Parsons needed coming off of a 72-50 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Pittsburg had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 76-67 win over Independence. Given Pittsburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Independence is ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Parsons now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Pittsburg, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Parsons suffered a grim 96-75 defeat to Pittsburg in their previous matchup last Wednesday. Can Parsons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
