Given Cartersville's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Woodland is ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cartersville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Senai Camper led the charge by scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Ansley Griffin was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Hiram suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Calhoun, falling 63-35. Hiram has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cartersville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for Hiram, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
Cartersville might still be hurting after the 62-40 defeat they got from Hiram when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Cartersville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
