Cyprus has gone 8-2 against Taylorsville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cyprus Pirates will challenge the Taylorsville Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Cyprus will be strutting in after a win while Taylorsville will be coming in after a defeat.
Cyprus will bounce into Friday's game after beating West Jordan, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Cyprus enjoyed a cozy 75-60 victory over West Jordan on Tuesday.
It was another big night for Koli Fosita, who went 10 for 12 on his way to 24 points and three steals. Harkaran Makhar was another key player, putting up 13 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Taylorsville was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 53-52 to Granger. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lancers 20-14 in the first quarter.
Cyprus will need focus on slowing down Kobe Allen, one of several Taylorsville players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Johnson, who posted 12 points and three steals.
Cyprus has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Taylorsville, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-13.
Friday's match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Fosita and Allen. Fosita has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 14.9 points, 1.8 steals, and 5.8 rebounds. For his part, Allen has averaged 21.1 points, 6.4 assists, and 1.1 steals.
Cyprus strolled past Taylorsville in their previous meeting on January 7th by a score of 85-66. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cyprus since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
