Northside lost to Clemente last Monday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Mustangs blew past the Wildcats 15-3. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
Tyler Weigand made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Northside got a massive performance out of Jesse Nick, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Rowan Dragovic was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clemente only posted an OBP of .480.
Northside has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Clemente, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside will welcome Disney II at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clemente, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hancock at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
