Two dominant guards in David Smith and Mohamed Camara are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Glastonbury Guardians will take on the Cheney Tech Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Glastonbury's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.
Last Friday, Glastonbury was fully in charge, breezing past Bristol Eastern 69-42. The Guardians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Smith was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 18 on his way to 24 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks. His evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Carroll, who posted seven points along with seven boards and six assists.
Glastonbury was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Cheney Tech came up short against Windham RVT on Friday and fell 75-64. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Glastonbury will have to contain Kanye Pitts as he made an impact in Cheney Tech's last game. He had 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Pitts a new career-high in points. Camara was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.
Glastonbury's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.3 points. As for Cheney Tech, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Glastonbury and Cheney Tech are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Glastonbury hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.1 points per game. However, it's not like Cheney Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.3 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Glastonbury came up short against Cheney Tech in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 49-45. Can Glastonbury avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
