The Durand Railroaders entered their tilt with the Bendle Tigers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Durand managed a 70-65 win over Bendle on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Markell Tate continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Brayden Joslin was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight assists and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Bendle lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malis Firman. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with seven assists and four steals. Firman has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gabe Alomar, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Durand has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Bendle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Durand will take on Mt. Morris at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Durand focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Bendle, they and Beecher will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bendle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 391st, while Beecher is ranked 156th).
