First Baptist Academy won the last time they faced Marco Island Academy, and things went their way on Friday, too. The First Baptist Academy offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the match anyway.
Senior Thomas Casey, who rushed for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns, was a major factor in First Baptist Academy's success. On the defensive end, sophomore Erick Tello was a one-man blockade for them with 4 sacks and 12 tackles.
The win bumped First Baptist Academy's record up to 2-0. Marco Island Academy are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-3.
After their action against one another, the teams are leaving the conference to test themselves against outside opponents. Next week First Baptist Academy take on Bishop Verot at 7:00 PM. Marco Island Academy will have some time to rest before their next contest, which is against Keswick Christian in three weeks at 7:00 PM. Marco Island Academy come in off of 3 low-scoring performances in a row, a trend the team is obviously eager to reverse.
