The St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Marauders will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Bishop Timon-St. Jude Tigers at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They blew past Dohn Community 50-24. The win was just what St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute needed coming off of a 28-0 defeat in their prior matchup.
Nolan Klein and Giorgio Panepinto were among the main playmakers for St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute as the former threw for 58 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes and the latter rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Daniel Mucica, who picked up 32 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Dohn Community's QB won't forget Dylan Capone anytime soon given Capone sacked him six times.
Meanwhile, Bishop Timon-St. Jude had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Mary's 62-0 at home. Given Bishop Timon-St. Jude's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 121st, while St. Mary's is ranked 519th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bishop Timon-St. Jude found their leader in underclassman Dominic Anzalone, who threw for 163 yards and four touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. James McNeil jr was another key contributor, rushing for 85 yards.
St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Bishop Timon-St. Jude, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1.
St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute took their win against Bishop Timon-St. Jude when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 34-10.
