The Platte Valley Broncos will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Platte Valley made easy work of the Eagles and carried off a 53-32 victory. The win was just what Platte Valley needed coming off of a 68-29 loss in their prior match.
Platte Valley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lidia Vasquez, who scored 11 points along with four steals, and Lauryn Uyemura, who scored 16 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vasquez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kamber Offinga, who scored five points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian waltzed into their contest on Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They walked away with a 60-52 victory over University.
Resurrection Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mackenzie Flikkema, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Olivia Klein was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.
Platte Valley's win bumped their record up to 3-13. As for Resurrection Christian, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3.
Everything went Platte Valley's way against the Cougars in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the Broncos made off with a 53-28 win. Will Platte Valley repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
