Jada Kendrick continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 5 for 12 en route to 21 points along with seven boards and five assists. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Janiya Scott was another key player, going 7 of 12 on her way to 18 points.
Thomson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Butler on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Burke County out of the water with a 66-36 final score. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.
Thomson better focus on containing Brayla Harris and Paris Floyd as the pair were huge in Butler's win. Harris almost dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists, while Floyd went 7 for 14 en route to 15 points and seven steals. Those nine assists gave Harris a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rania Curry, who posted seven points in addition to 12 boards and three steals.
Thomson's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.5 points. As for Butler, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Thomson and Butler are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Thomson hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.6 points per game. However, it's not like Butler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 59.9 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Thomson came up short against Butler in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 54-46. Thankfully for Thomson, Karen Nimo (who made all 8 shots she took to post 24 points and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
