The Forsyth Country Day Furies will head out on the road to face off against the Mount Tabor Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Forsyth Country Day will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Forsyth Country Day has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 34 points or more this season. They really took it to North Cross for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-17 win at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-8.
Gigi Lyons was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with 8 steals. The game was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Kelly, who scored 13 points along with 7 steals and 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mount Tabor was beaten by Lake Norman 81-37 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Mount Tabor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Lake Norman is ranked fourth).
Forsyth Country Day's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Mount Tabor, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Forsyth Country Day ended up a good deal behind Mount Tabor in their previous meeting back in January of 2016, losing 50-34. Can Forsyth Country Day avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
