The Roy Royals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 52-41 to Northridge. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Roy of the 47-44 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Roy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Analeise Maharaj, who scored 14 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maharaj has scored all season. Rihanna Jones was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Roy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Roy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Northridge, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-9.
Roy will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Falcons at 5:15 p.m. on February 7th. As for Northridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the RedHawks at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Bountiful will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
