The Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns will square off against the La Costa Canyon Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Rancho Buena Vista 2.7, La Costa Canyon 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Rancho Buena Vista is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Mission Vista on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Longhorns with their most commanding win of the season.
Danica Nielsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
