Scarborough has gone 8-2 against Gorham recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Red Storm are taking a road trip to take on the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Scarborough put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Noble. The Red Storm not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 20, 2024 (when they won 16-1).
Asa Howe made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That hit was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Giuiliana Giftos was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cassie Niles, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Scarborough was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Gorham had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Trojans as they made off with a 10-3 victory. Considering the Rams have won three games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Gorham's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Scarborough, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Scarborough beat Gorham 6-1 when the teams last played back in June of 2024. Do the Red Storm have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
