Durham Academy struggled with assists on Friday (Ravenscroft had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Durham Academy received a tough blow as they fell 47-29 to Ravenscroft. Durham Academy has not had much luck with Ravenscroft recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by Rashyia "Shy" Williams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Newkirk, who scored no points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Latin was beaten by Cannon 74-39 on Friday. Charlotte Latin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-10.
Durham Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Charlotte Latin, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.
Durham Academy ended up a good deal behind Charlotte Latin when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 50-35. Can Durham Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
