On Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Verbum Dei Jesuit beat North Hollywood 56-52.
Verbum Dei Jesuit was led to victory by Harper Whitman and Reese Whitman. Whitman scored 20 points along with six assists and five rebounds, while Whitman scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Whitman hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Curtis Simpson, who scored three points along with four steals.
Verbum Dei Jesuit is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for North Hollywood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.
Verbum Dei Jesuit and Bellflower will face off at 12:00 p.m. on January 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Bellflower is ranked 556th, while Verbum Dei Jesuit is ranked 550th). As for North Hollywood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South El Monte at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully South El Monte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.
