The Damonte Ranch Mustangs put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 70-62 win over Reed. Given Damonte Ranch's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Reed is ranked 57th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Damonte Ranch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jiro Basabas, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 assists. That's the first time this season that Basabas posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Dodson, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tj Coulter, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Smith, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Damonte Ranch's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Reed, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Damonte Ranch will be home for the holidays to greet Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carson is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Reed, they will head out on the road to face off against Reno at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Reno will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
