The Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 70-58 to Laurel. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Laurel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jermaine Taylor led the charge by scoring 26 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Taylor has scored at least 25% of Laurel's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gilbert Osafo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds.
Eleanor Roosevelt bumped their record down to 1-10-1 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Laurel, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eleanor Roosevelt will face off against Parkdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel's road trip will continue as they head out to face Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th.
