Big Rivers recap Oct. 3, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to River Falls, who took down 54th ranked River Falls, 21-17.
Menomonie extended the longest winning streak in Big Rivers this week by beating Eau Claire North, 40-12. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Superior's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Spencer Urban threw for 59 yards and Addison Schwarz had 46 yards receiving. On the ground Nick Mehlum chipped in 17 yards. Kyle Turkowski helped Superior's passing attack out by catching one ball for 25 yards.
Superior's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spartans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Urban has thrown for 698 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Turkowski has 13 catches for 189 yards. Aaron Wakefield-Zubiate leads the league in rushing with 298 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Hudson takes on the Wildcats. As it stands, the Raiders are in second, while River Falls is in third.
Eau Claire Memorial and Jason Wolf's team played the most hotly contested game in Big Rivers this week, with Eau Claire Memorial eventually emerging with a 21-17 victory.
