Raymond (Alberta) had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down Skyridge 67-52 on Friday.
Skyridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bella Sika, who scored 21 points, and Shae Toole who scored 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Toole is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Buttars, who scored seven points.
Raymond (Alberta)'s win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Skyridge, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2.
Raymond (Alberta) won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lehi at 11:00 a.m. on January 6th. Lehi is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Skyridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Mountain Ridge is ranked 20th, while Skyridge is ranked 13th).
