Fruitdale is 2-8 against the Demons since November of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Fruitdale Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the McIntosh Demons at 6:00 p.m. McIntosh took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Fruitdale, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Fruitdale took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 51-18 win over the Warriors. The victory was just what Fruitdale needed coming off of a 56-30 defeat in their prior game.
Fruitdale got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Genna Ivy out in front who scored 23 points. Anaya Smith was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-17, which was the final score in McIntosh's tilt against the Spartans on Monday. While losing is never fun, McIntosh can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Spartans are ranked 139th).
Fruitdale's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for McIntosh, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Fruitdale didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Demons when the teams last played two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 40-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fruitdale since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
