Softball Recap: Lordstown Sets Scoring Season-High Against Harding

Lordstown extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They fell 20-17 to the Harding Skippers. On the bright side, the 17- run performance marked the Red Devils' highest-scoring game to date.

Harding's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-10. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Harding's part, Natalie Phillips was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Jillian Justinger was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Lordstown and Harding could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Red Devils (ranked 694th) will meet St. John (ranked 319th) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Harding will take on Pymatuning Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (660 vs. 236).
