Cruz's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making five total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.
Despite the loss, Pima still got an impressive performance from Jeremiah Martinez, who picked up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 139 yards.
The win got Safford back to even at 1-1. As for Pima, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Safford will square off against Florence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are at an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2016. As for Pima, they will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Morenci at 7:00 p.m. on September 13th.
