Simi Valley is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Moorpark is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pioneers will host the Musketeers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Simi Valley 4, Moorpark 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Wednesday, Simi Valley needed a bit of extra time to put away Camarillo. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Scorpions 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pioneers have posted against the Scorpions since May 18, 2021.
Simi Valley got a great performance from Parker Ong as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 5.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Simi Valley let Arianna Ochoa and Hayden Chang run wild. Ochoa went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Chang went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Chang is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Aurora Zepeda was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Moorpark was able to grind out a solid victory over Oak Park on Tuesday, taking the game 7-4. The Musketeers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Kiley Finnerty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nathalie Hernandez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sydney Burckhard, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Moorpark was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Simi Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Moorpark, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Simi Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Moorpark struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
