If the Unity Christian Knights were riding high off their 41-8 takedown of the Tri-State Christian Huskies last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Unity Christian was the victim of a rough 39-18 loss at the hands of Morning Star Academy on Friday. If Unity Christian hoped to take revenge for the 29-18 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Unity Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddy Wilbur, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Morning Star Academy found their leader in underclassman Violet Jewell, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Allison Ammann was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three blocks and two steals.
Unity Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Morning Star Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.
Unity Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against East Moline Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Moline Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Morning Star Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Galesburg Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
